How to Set Up a Blog for Your Business

Whether we like it or not, the internet is a hugely important part of public relations and marketing for any business. The following is a bare bones, basic guide of how to get your business online with a blog.

Pick a domain name and register it.

The name of your domain is very important. Many domain names are already reserved, so you may have to choose a variation of your company’s name. You will need to go to a domain registrar to search and register your name. One of the best deals in town comes from Go Daddy .
Find a Host.

You will need to settle on a provider to host your site. Make sure that the package you choose will allow access to a “MySQL” database. Host Gator has great packages designed for small businesses like their Unlimited Hosting plan.

Install WordPress.

This is where it starts to get a little more technical – but nothing you can’t handle, right? WordPress published their super simple five minute installation process on their website.
Install a Theme.

This step gets much easier again. You will want your website’s look to fit the feel of your business. A free theme from one of the thousands out there will do. (JoshuaBevan.com uses a free theme called Dojuniko from the guys at Hulozila.) Simply search for one on your WordPress DashBoard and install it.
Install Plug-Ins.

Write Your First Post.
